Paul Pelosi, the 82-year-old husband of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi , was hospitalised early on Friday morning 

after an unknown person entered into their San Francisco home early that morning and "violently beat" the man, according to a statement from spokesman Drew Hammill.

California Democrat Nancy Pelosi, who is guarded by the U.S. Capitol Police, wasn't in San Francisco at the time.

According to the statement, police detained the suspect in the incident, however they are still looking into his or her motivation.

Hammill added in the statement, "Mr. Pelosi was rushed to the hospital, where he is getting outstanding medical treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.

He continued, "The Speaker and her family desire privacy at this time and are appreciative to the first responders and medical personnel involved."

Requests for more information and confirmation of whether police intended to hold a press conference regarding the attack were not immediately answered.

US House speaker's husband :-The FBI and the U.S. Capitol Police have confirmed that they are involved in the inquiry.

A team of investigators from the Department's Threat Assessment Section was simultaneously dispatched from the East Coast to help

the FBI and the San Francisco Police with a joint investigation, the USCP said in a statement. "Special Agents with the USCP's California Field Office quickly arrived on scene.
