The winning numbers for Friday's $1.28 billion Mega Millions drawing were 13, 36, 45, 57, and 67, with a Mega Ball of 14.

According to the game's website, the Mega Millions jackpot for Friday has increased to an estimated $1.28 billion.

If won, it would be the second-largest payout in the game's 20-year history and the third-largest jackpot of any US lottery game.

The jackpot on Friday has a cash value option of $742.2 million. The drawing will take place at the Atlanta WSB-TV studio at 11 p.m. ET.

The largest Mega Millions jackpot ever was $1.537 billion, and it was won in 2018 by a single ticket purchased in South Carolina.

The $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot from January 13, 2016, which was the highest jackpot in any US lottery game, was split among winners in Tennessee, Florida, and California.

According to Mega Millions, despite being the greatest lottery reward ever won by only one ticket, that is the second-largest jackpot for any US lottery game.

Winning the lottery can "truly flip your life on its head," according to Timothy Schultz, who won a $28 million Powerball jackpot in 1999 and now broadcasts a lottery podcast for CNN.

Some of the first phone calls he made, according to him, were to lawyers and financial advisors once he saw his numbers in the newspaper and learned he had won.
